Marma means secret or hidden! It is a point inside human body where two or more tissues connect or meet. These are the vital areas of the human body.
In Ayurveda, Marma therapy is of great importance as it maintains health by cleansing blocked energy.
Marma Therapy is very helpful in the treatment of common ailments such as headache, joints pain, bodyache and so on.
As per the Ayurvedic text, "SushrutaSamhita", There are basically 107 Marma points in the body. Mind being the 108th marma! With Marma Therapy, all these 107 points get rejuvenated and a new energy induced inside the body.
The Marma Therapy includes Abhyanga, Kizhi and Pizhichil treatments. This Ayurvedic Therapy includes the treatment with herbs and heated medicinal oils, which then put on the area to be treated. The therapy or massage is then followed by pressuring the points using palm, fingers or heel.
