What Ayurveda Says About Vision Loss or Failing Vision

According to Ayurveda philosophy, drishtidosha or the failing vision problem is believed to result from

Functions of the Colon

• Nervous debility

Because of the connection with the sun, the eyes are thought to be fiery in nature and therefore more easily irritated by the hot days of summer. Luckily, Ayurveda offers many ways to douse the flames. In Ayurvedic theory, there are three doshas, or energies, that influence our bodies and minds. Pitta is associated with fire, and people in whom pitta is typically dominant tend to be motivated and focused; those with lots of vata (linked with air and wind) are often lively; those in whom kapha (ruled by earth and water) is strongest are thought to be stable and compassionate.

As a treatment, Ayurveda suggests

Triphala or powder of the three myrobalans (amla or Indian Gooseberry, harad or Indian rhubarb, and baheda or Belericmyrobalan) for internal as well as external purpose.
Mahatriphalaghrita, Yashtimadhuchurana, and SaptamritLauha to be taken after consulting an Ayurveda physician.

Particularly in the case of chronic cold, there are some beneficial medicated oils that need to be deeply inhaled along with the therapy. Also, according to Ayurveda, our eyesight is the product of agni or fire. Therefore, it is particularly important to save the eyes from phlegm.
